McKinley House for Men
SCW established The McKinley House to offer men in recovery a safe and affordable, substance-free environment to pursue life goals, compatible with sobriety. The McKinley House provides transitional living for men who have successfully completed an alcohol/drug treatment program and who have chosen to live a clean and sober lifestyle and actively pursuing recovery.
The trek up the mountain is a difficult one and we don’t want you to face it alone, but within the support of a caring community of individuals who know your struggle first-hand. The McKinley House fosters an environment where men can experience growth in all areas of their lives – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s our hope that by addressing these areas, you’ll be able to make a smoother transition back into the community.
Centrally located near downtown Lincoln, the house is convenient to retail and dining establishments, social services, and two major bus routes. It’s also within walking distance of many Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meeting locations.
The Program Directors of The McKinley House are certified and licensed counselors who understand the nature and course of addictions. A traditional Twelve Step approach is the core for programming and The McKinley House is affiliated with Summit Care and Wellness. Individuals are accepted into The McKinley House by means of referral from treatment programs, organizations/institutions and other professionals. Initial contact is made by phone, in writing or through email. Screening criteria includes questions about the individual’s alcohol/drug history, treatment history and present commitment to recovery. Requirements and expectations for individuals who are considering applying to The McKinley House are available upon request.
